"Dreaming of Sailing Further West" is the debut album from Ulnar, the collaborative project of Rui P. Andrade and Vitor Bruno Pereira (Aires, Verãopop, Shikabala), both members of the Colectivo Casa Amarela arts collective. Recorded one summer in the band’s hometown Funchal, Madeira Island, it blends influences as diverse as ambient, drone and noise into cohesive and coherent soundscapes. The presence of Madeira is felt throughout the album, both aesthetically and sonically, as the duo explored the deep contrasts of its volcanic birth and the extreme duality that lies in its violent roots and oceanic peace.
